Actually, David is an Australian which is pretty obvious when you hear his accent.

But then, we Southern Hemisphereans have problems distinguishing between Canadian and American accents, so I can understand the confusion!

However, they do mention he was kite-surfing off New South Wales, and I'm definitely sure that it's in Australia!
