Would you want to stay here? Wait for it ...

Aww, isn't this bed and breakfast nice and quaint? According to their website:
Alicja Hotel is a modern hotel facility located only a few minutes walk to the city centre and 500 meters to the covered market of international trade shows that often take place in Lodz. The outstanding location, family atmosphere and high quality of services are our good points.
Now, here is that same exact hotel from a slightly different angle. I usually I tend to stay away from places that are almost entirely hidden on Google Maps because of the smoke from the nuclear reactor in the backyard, but that's just me.
Goes to show you not to trust completely what you find on the hotel's own website).
And for extra points, see this unexpected sight in the bar.

Technically, it's not smoke coming out of that tower, it's steam. :)

Amazing. Nick, I'll pose with you for that picture, then I'll probably take a cab across town to my actual hotel.

That photo with the powerplant looks Photoshopped.

It really, really looks shopped - but looking at google maps it seems legit. Yikes.

Tremendous!

A nuclear reactor doesn't release smoke, but steam. And given the length of the shadow of the clouds from the clouds they were up at a pretty high altitude. I doubt they came from the powerplant. More likely they happened to be overhead when the satellite passed.

Hang on - there's something fishy going on in the photo above too. Look how the streetlight in the foreground gets chopped off...

I have a Polish friend, who found this post absolutely rediculous. He said :"There are not any active nuclear reactors in Poland (apart from one small one used for research purposes only—not in Lodz). the truth is that the quality of Polish tourist and gastronomy services has been for some time now outcompeting the English, French and the like! ". And secondly, I am 100% ceratin that photo with nuclear plant is photoshopped. I say, this post is really lame.

Ah - the powers of marketing and Photoshop - this is hilarious!
It may not be a nuclear power station but a cooling tower for a heat generating station, see:
http://www.dalkia.pl/dalkia-l/index.php?pid=472 for the types of power stations in Lodz.
Plus, like Jerry, go to Google maps and enter the motel address: Al. Politechniki 19A, 93-590 Łódź
Now, if you go one step further than Jerry and tick the "Photos" box under the "More", you'll get this scene:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Al.+Politechniki+19A,+93-590+%C5%81%C3%B3d%C5%BA&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=31.701751,55.371094&ie=UTF8&ll=51.740902,19.451112&spn=0.003023,0.006759&t=h&z=17&iwloc=addr&lci=lmc:panoramio,lmc:wikipedia_en
Clicking on the small "sunset-like" image that appears in the top area of the map will show you a nice sunset image of the power station.
Elementary, dear Watson, the above image is Photoshopped. Nathan picked up a vital clue too!

There are smokestacks in the background. Nukes don't have them, coal plants do. Considering the location, it is probably not a modern, relatively clean burning, smoke "scrubbed" facility. Maybe a worse neighbor than a nuke.
