What does the Delta and Northwest merger mean for me, the one with the frequent flier miles?

Your miles are fine. You can keep them and they'll merge into DL's system.

As far as booking tickets, that window has passed. Now that fuel surcharges are in place, you're going to get rocked either way when you purchase a ticket.
