I have a 5 year old that I have traveled with since he was 9 months old, and has never been a problem. Should anybody have done anything like Ivanna did before a flight had even been fully seated, I would have called the flight attendant, and in a loud enough voice so that all could hear would have asked if there was some way to move that senile withered old bitch to some other part of the aircraft, perhaps next to any retiles that might be being transported on board so that she might feel more at home.
