Meh. These laws aren't enforced. I've had a GPS unit mounted right in the middle of my dashboard for years, and even when I've been stopped for speeding, I've never had an officer look twice at the GPS.

These laws are just scare tactics pushed by the auto industry so they can get you to spend $4,000 on a pre-installed GPS device instead of $200 on an independent one.
