Craig - you've got it wrong. Yes, it can be rowdy and yes, it can get a little bit overwhelming, but overall, it's really one of those "once in a lifetime" experiences (not to sound corny) that you really should try to take advantage of.
Oh, and for clarification I no longer live in Munich - I moved away a couple of years ago but am on my way back for the second weekend of the festival.
