A tour of Sarah Palin's hometown: Wasilla, Alaska
If you've come to Gadling to get away from the Sarah Palin media frenzy, tough luck.
Assuming you're a sentient being who's been blessed with eyes or ears, you've probably noticed that America's foxiest governor, Sarah Palin, has been nominated as the Republican candidate for vice president. For the last several days, Palin has been derided as inexperienced by the Democrats, who cite the fact that she was mayor of the small town of Wasilla, Alaska, as recently as 2002.
It was only a matter of time before news outlets infiltrated the 8,500-person town of Wasilla and reported back to the rest of us. Over at Slate, Alex Sheshunoff has compiled a slideshow of the town, complete with photos of all the highlights: the Mexican restaurant, the taxidermist, the city hall, and most importantly, the Target.

Brenda, Cambodians have a saying that goes like this: "There's no use singing to a water buffalo."
In other words, you'll accomplish nothing by singing or arguing to a stupid, stubborn beast who will never understand you. You know as well as I how Gadling seems to attract some of the most illiterate literates here.
You can point out how Sarah Palin is everything the Republican is accusing Obama of being, which is inexperienced with little political credentials or plan. You can say how they praise her of being "fresh" and heralding change, which is what Obama is going for.
But they'll never understand the hypocrisy of that. Flip-flopping doesn't apply to the conservative right-wings.

I'm absolutely amazed at the need for experience for a vice president who is a heartbeat away but no need for experience in the presidential candidate of the other ticket. What makes Obama qualified? I could understand the worry if the democratic candidate had a vast resume, but when he's done even less than Palin, why criticize her? There's no reason to believe McCain (the top of the ticket with vast experience) will drop dead the minute he's sworn in, so Palin has time to improve. Obama is running as the top of his ticket and as Biden said before, there is no time to learn on the job when you're #1.

Why are you so focused on her time serving as Wasilla's mayor? Sarah Palin is now Govenor of the Great State of Alaska! Govenor Palin is a force for this nation to stand up and take notice of, and I'm very proud of her and her accomplishments. No, Wasilla is not Chicago, but it is a beautiful small town that has alot of character. Why would you take pictures of the most random things here???? Our entire city is built around a beautiful lake with towering mountains on all sides. I can go to any city in America and find ugly buildings and random things to talk about. By the way, we dont like box stores, we have 5 Mexican restaurants, and we are only 40 min to Anchorage. You are nothing more than a wanna be reporter who failed to do his homework.

I'd like to put her up against Kim Jong Il, Putin, Ahmadinaejad, etc, BEFORE this election and watch her stutter and stammer. A VERY scary thought that she could be the one dealing with them. The world is a very scary place right now. A new cold war is developing, a crazy man in Iran, etc., Being a Governor of Alaska for TWENTY months, TWENTY months, does not qualify her to be President. And yes,she is running for President, because of McCain's age. I think when the novelty of her wears off in the coming weeks, and people see what she really DOESN'T know, (she can't keep talking hockey mom's when she's interviewed, people want to hear her political agenda), the McCain campaign will steadily go downhill

well... being a Senator for 174 some-odd days before you leave to go kick off your Presidential campaign doesn't exactly inspire confidence either.
And his 'experience' as a State Senator in my home state of Illinois is nothing comparable either. He ran unopposed (since he had his staff play legal loopholes to get everyone else kicked off the ballot)... where he voted "present" most of the time. For the US Senate he ran against a Republican who was under investigation at the time.
Say what you will about Palin, at least she actually *competed* in an election.
Oh, and one last thing... for all the talk about "change", at least McCain has gone against his own party on issues of principle many, many times. Palin's history shows a penchant for the same in both local politics as well as the Governor's race.
Can any Obama supporters here specify a *SINGLE* time where Obama or Biden actually went against their own party, based on a matter of principle?
...anyone? Bueller?... Bueller?...

Separation of Church and State? Palin is a fundamentalist. Aren't we spending billions to remove fundamentalists from governments? Science? Only if it's in the bible.
