Northwest flight attendants to wear Delta uniforms
Delta Airlines has sent a memo to flight attendants at Northwest Airlines, which it is seeking to buy through a stock swap, notifying them of upcoming "style clinics" where new Delta uniforms are to be unveiled.Delta wants NW's flight attendants to begin wearing Delta uniforms on routes early next year.
While this may not be a significant story, it does give a clue as to how the merger between the two airlines could go in terms of branding -- whether the Northwest brand will survive or be swallowed up by Delta's.
The merger, announced this spring, is expected to close by year's end and will form the world's largest airline carrier.

Over the past few years (many years), I have flow the N.W. Flight Seattle to Amsterdam, then KLM to Scotland. (Coach)
The only smartly dressed flight attendants were the men. For some reason they were sharp and attentive.
There did not seem to be one 'uniform' for the women.
Sad to say - they (on N.W.) were a frumpy lot in attention to dress (dowdy)and attention to their passengers - perhaps surly would be a better description of their attitudes. One even said to me - no one wants to be on this route! Then you go to KLM. Wow! smiles, smartly dressed attendants who actually wished you a good day when you left.
Only first class got this on N.W. Cattle car class - well got the feeling they could not wait to get rid of us!
Plently of smiles from the N.W. attendants when they came off the plane and were leaving the airport.
Deteriorated attention to passengers is never a good thing - but if they do not even want to be on a specific flight. What is going on here??????

Also not mentioned here is the wings for Delta will be changing as well to bring in a part of NWA. No one knows just yet what they will look like (at least not us humble workers) but they are saying they will bring them together in time for us to wear the uniforms.

Glad to see this is going forward. I just want NorthWORST to go away. Here in the south we LOVE our Delta Airlines. Hopefully the awful frontline employees of NWA will leave their bad attitude with the company name when they merge...in the trash where both belong. Better yet, hopefully Delta will keep NW's hubs and all their lousy employees will stay there or be furloughed.

I am sad by some of the things you said here, you should never wish for anyone to lose their job. That just isn't fair, while yes WE DO have some real jerks working at Northwest, we do have some really amazing people out there. I work on the front line as a flight attendant and YES I am excited for the merger. Bring forth a new era in flying, but also remember that many people have been through many bad times with their airline.
I'm one of the newer employees, maybe you should cross your fingers to see some more of us. Which shouldn't be too hard and smile a little more when you get on. A smile will win you plenty more.

As a former NWA flight attendant, I want to point out that there are a lot of wonderful people who work for NWA. I had the good fortune to meet and work with many of them, and I certainly hope that any of my passengers would not have had the same impression of me that you seem to have of everyone at NWA. I knew some of the rotten employees, it's true, and believe me, it was as unpleasant for me as it was for any passenger who had the misfortune of dealing with them.
I think wishing for people to be furloughed, though, or to say you hope an entire airline disappears is terrible. There are a lot of truly good people at NWA who do not deserve your unkindness.

You obviously need a life outside of DELTA........We at Northwest have been through the ringer and you have no idea what you are instore for.Keep dreaming because Richard Anderson will wake you up sooner than you think my friend!Delta old southern hospitality is gone with the wind after this merger is set and done."Don't make this your day job, that's for sure!

I've flown many airlines both to Europe and Asia. I usually get great service. Maybe because I smile, say thank you and you're welcome. NWA was no exception. I had a teen with me this last trip to Japan and they treated her as well as they did me.

Had an awful experience with Delta, whereby agent had booked connecting flights close together, but adequate time until headwinds delayed landing...at a full out run with two children to make the connection, the Delta agent saw us coming, walked over and Closed the Door to the ramp--policy was, once the door was closed, no one else gets on...no remorse, no remedy from her supervisor, even though we were there and there were seats...just 'oops, you lose' attitude.
We were first class, full rev passengers -- would never fly Delta after that...'ooops' -- with service like that...they lost my wallet!
Continental was our first choice American provider -- but even 'first class' there has diminished in standard of service and food...the last flight to Hawaii for business, gave us food that was to the standard of what economy used to be...it's awful. And cleaning standards have also spiralled downward...
I'm not one of the ones looking for something for nothing -- it's the ones looking always to cut corners on fares, and the unions, that drive the standards down.
Now, for those of us willing to pay, we can't even get what we think we're paying for...a safe plane, with a clean seat, edible foods, and service from folks happy to be there.
American Eagle and USAir Express, have staff that flies the Pitt-NYC route that despite the smallness of the equipment, actually behave with some enthusiasm for the work...and they've flown on time this summer...kudos to them for trying harder!

If you are willing to pay, why are you not flying NetJets or a private charter. You then get exactly what you want and what you pay for.
