Time posts their 25 "must have" high-tech travel gadgets
Time has published a list of 25 "must have" travel gadgets. The list contains some of the usual suspects, like the Apple 3G iPhone, the Amazon Kindle and a Canon digital camera. Then there are several "gadgets" you wouldn't immediately think of, like this UV water sanitizing pen or a wine "skin", which is nothing more than a piece of bubble wrap for carrying wine bottles in your luggage (I find using a sock and a plastic bag to be a cheaper solution).
The list covers everything from an ultra thin notebook (the Apple Macbook Air) to the Kensington battery pack for).iPod and iPhone, (reviewed here on Gadling last week.
All in all, it isn't a bad list, but it might be a little too rich for some travelers. Some of the items missing from the list (in my opinion), are the Asus Eee PC or a similar $400 ultra portable laptop and a real handheld GPS unit, like one of the many Garmin handheld mapping devices which allow you to navigate while walking through an unknown city, or off the beaten path.
Of course, different travelers will have different needs, so let me ask you; what are you missing from this list? Do you own a "must have" product you'll never leave home without? Leave a comment, and in the coming weeks I'll put together a list of the Gadling top 25 high-tech travel gadgets.

This isn't exactly new or high-tech, but I don't know what I'd do without my iPod Photo Connector which copies everything from my digital camera onto my iPod as a backup. I believe there are better solutions out there (you've probably even reviewed them), but if you own one of the big hard drive-based iPods it's a quick, cheap fix.
I should also point out that I use tons of gadgets at home but aside from the iPod and camera I don't even bring them on the road. For my last trip I got a cheap Blackberry from eBay and loaded it up with all of my research, Wikitravel pages, etc so that I could review them as necessary, even while out on the town. I never used it -- it just doesn't compare to real paper printouts, no matter how heavy they seem.

Any list that places such a heavy emphasis on Apple products is also highly suspect. The Macbook air is a joke with no replaceable battery. The iPhone as well is an overpriced excuse of a phone. unless you jailbreak it, you're stuck with ATT and thus paying out the ear for voice and data. Airport express? sorry, I'll gladly bring my linksys travel router that not only does, wireless networking but also has a 4 ports for wired connectivity. But as someone said, anybody who puts each item on a separate page for pagecount views should be treated with suspicion.
