JetBlue to charge $7 for pillows and blankets
Thank goodness they are not attempting to charge for those hideous blankets and pillows most airlines offer!
JetBlue will begin charging customers for an eco-friendly comfort package on their flights. Travel blanket and pillow--featuring a fabric technology, developed by CleanBrands LLC, that apparently blocks dust mites, mold spores, pollen and pet dander--will be available for purchase for $7 on flights longer than two hours. The pair will come in a kit with a $5 coupon to Bed Bath & Beyond.
So far, we have JetBlue charging us for extra leg room, food and drinks, checked baggage and now pillows and blankets. What's next?
How about extra humidity on board? I'd pay extra for that.

Airlines seem to be wary of scaring off customers by raising fares significantly and charging for everything. Lets beat them at their own game.

jetblue does not charge for food or drinks. you have a wide selection of snacks which you can have more than one of. And you get a full can of whatever you choose to drink which also you can seconds, thirds, fourths, whatever it may be! jetblue charges for cocktails but that's reasonable. and the legroom fee that everyone is talking about is in addition to the already extra legroom you receive for free. jetblue has the most legroom in coach out of all the other american airlines. so before complaining about all the bad things airlines are doing get facts straight. thank you!

This actually wouldn't dissuade me at all from flying JetBlue. And lots of people would be able to use the gift certificate to Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Dr. Tantillo ('the marketing doctor') did two posts on his branding blog (http://blog.marketingdoctor.tv) a while back, criticizing JetBlue for their frequent flyer program, which is a bit of a dirty trick (I coughed up the $40/year to get their credit card and be able to keep the miles I accumulate): http://blog.marketingdoctor.tv/2008/05/07/tantillo-on-the-news-jetblue-needs-to-remember-its-customers.aspx
But this particular move is very straight-forward and doesn't seem inconsistent at all with JetBlue's brand.

I will tell you that soon Jet Blue will be bankrupt.
The story that follows happen on July 28 08.
I purchase a round ticket from Boston to St Martin.
The day before the early flight at 0700 AM, Ireceived a call to let me know that that flight was cancelled. I was not given any more details of it, leaving me solo at 1130 PM to try another flight from Boston - NY. so I could connect NY to St Martin.Well, I was lucky, there was an early flight, one hour to be precised, and one seat available. I took it, thinking what's an hour earlier. No problem so far. Boarded the plane, arrived in NY to my despair and find out that the flight to St Martin was cancelled too.So, now what? Why they did not tell me this in Boston? So, I asked when was the next flight? Answer, next Thursday. So what was I to do? I immediatly called AA, and they had one seat available, first class to St Martin, minding you that I already had paid for my flights on Jet Blue. Yes they did return my fair from NY to St Martin, but whilethe ticket counter was doing this process, it also cancel my return trip for the week after, now, I have no flights to come home.
Thru the phone my wife arrange that Jet Blue correct the problem. Now, the fun part beggins, while I am on the air, with AA, my wife gets a phone call from Jet Blue stating that they have a flight to St Martin at 1700 hrs, that is 500 PM, where was I? Well duh, after I was told that there was no more flights that day and my next one was going to thursday, what was I supposed to do? Sit at the airport and count people?. Now the excuse that my flight was cancelled was due to weather, according with the ticket agent in NY, but AA was flying, so was US Air. So we know that is not true. By the phone the excuse was due to problems with Control Tower, Flight Attendants, and what else they could imagine, the fact remains that no one in Jet Blue has the capacity of resolve a problem, or make a command decision, they, "The CEO" chooses his personnel very careful so they are just trained to follow the SOP, but if a question like, why there is no flights to St Martin that AM, and later on during the day there was one for the PM, weather was not a problem, lets me to think that it is infact a very poor run organization, with no capacity of leadership or take control of the ship in case the Capt., is not around. As we see it now, all the answers to a late flight or why there is no flight, comes down to somebody elses responsability, never theirs. What in actuallity happened was that the day before was stormy on the East Coast and things had to be shuffled and St Martin was not priority, it was not a business flight as we call. And they would deal with that later.
Resumen: I feel sorry for in times like this, a Co., like Jet Blue has to choose between honesty and keeping good costumers or lie and the rest is just BS.
So, my advise to frequent fliers to St Martin from Boston, think twice before choosing that Airlines.
I am a frequent visitor to St Martin, 4 to 5 times a year, always flew US Air, everybody talks bad about it, but for the past 9 years I was never late, never lost my luggage, but for one time, in a gesture maybe to save a couple of dollares, it end up costing me a lot more.
So stick with what has been good to you and do not go and try an amateur airlines, just because they give you extended leg room and entertainment that does not work, even with the returm of the money via a certificate, who wants to flight like that. It is just a charter, remember next time.
