I actually had a friend who did a multi-day mountain bike race and used this so we could track him (and if he got injured, he could call for help.) So it does come in handy, but it's a niche use.
I'm looking at this because I'm going to be spending a month in Russia, slowly meandering my way from Moscow to Beijing. This would be nice for friends and family to find out where I am (plus, who doesn't like Google Maps?)
Failing to get the purpose of a review that clearly states that this is locator beacon, not a personal navigation device is not due to the reviewer.
