Matthew, I'm so envious that you're in Africa and I'm not! ;) I'm sitting here at my desk working (or pretending to) and looking at my beautiful carved Ostrich egg that I brought back from my recent trip to South Africa. I had no idea that an ostrich could be deadly until I got up close and personal with a few of the giant birds, and my guide then relayed that info to me! Are you going to make it to South Africa on this trip? Make sure that you have at least 2 blank pages in your passport!

Thanks for the nice post Brenda! Actually, this trip I'm focusing on Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania, but I've spent quite a bit of time in South Africa. Wonderful country! If you do make it back to that part of the world however, I can't stress how amazing Namibia is for travel!

Actually Namibia is first on my list upon my return to Africa! I spent an evening having "sundowners" in South Africa with some "Owamba" Namibians, and after hearing about how beautiful a country it is, I am so going there! They gave me a beautiful Owamba mask - When I put it on my face, I can still smell the fire from which they molded it from! Wonderful people!

Great to hear - it's a really underrated country, especially since the people are so wonderful there, and it has some of the most hauntingly beautiful desert landscapes imaginable.
It's a great place to go car camping to, so consider renting a decent vehicle, bringing a tent, air mat and sleeping bag, and having a go. Don't miss out on Etosha National Park in the dry season, while Sossuvlei and Swakopmund are amazing any time of year!
And I'm sure your Owamba friends can show you a good time(^_^)
