TSA agent caught sleeping on the job
Attention US citizens: Here are your tax dollars at work. This video of a hard(ly) working TSA agent was apparently taken at Amtrak Union Station in Chicago.
Note the sunglasses-indoors look sported by the sleeping officer, undoubtedly worn to hide his closed eyes. Perhaps he needs a pair of these instead?
More on the TSA and Amtrak here.

did you ever think that he could be on his break? But even if he wasn't, I'd rather that he sleeps instead of harassing me or the passengers using his so called "power"!

It's a good thing the photographer wasn't caught taking the video; that would be cause for apprehension because of "terrorist surveillance."

Idiots like you are what makes mankind look so stupid. You assholes think TSA is the only person who handles your babs? The airlines have them longer that TSA and have every opertunity to open them and steal out of them. And for the dumbasses putting locks on their bags, they don't keep anyone out. You can pop a zipper and then rezip it without the owner ever knowing. Your just pissed because the TSA people are federal officers and you couldn't pass a 1st grade physical.

One TSA idiot less to steal out of my suitcase.
BF Jul 12th 2008 7:56PM
The only good thing about sleeping on the job is that this TSA agent won't be stealing things out of my luggage !

It may be obvious to you that he is on duty, but it's not obvious to me. He's seems to be sitting in a public area with passengers waiting for their trains. He could be on break--He may be guilty of nothing more than poor judgement, in presenting a bad public image of his organization. If he's on a break, he shouldn't take his nap in a public area. On the other hand, maybe there isn't a break room for TSA employees at the train station.

All I saw was a TSA employee in uniform in a common area dozing on and off. I don't know how the shifts work at Amtrak but where I worked our first shift started at 2:45 am. TSA employees had to park in an area off site and shuttles run every 20 minutes. He could have been waiting for his ride after his shift and fallen asleep.

Thank you Emma Leigh .. Its refreshing to see someone stand up for their fellow Officers instead of listening to slanderous idiots ..... Former TSA/NDO

Did it ever occur to any one that he was off his shift waiting to catch a train and fell asleep.

It is obvious that this TSO wasn't working and he just probably taking a break. After all, is not easy to deal with thousands of customers every day, and believe it or not this is an energy taking job. SO LET THE POOR MAN TAKE IS LITTLE BREAK. While most of the people get out there beds around 6:00 am, the some TSO's to to wake up at 1:00 am so they can get to work on time. To the photographer, please get you some other hobby more than false statements.... FORMER TSO

It looks like he is in a common area taking a break, is that all a passenger has to do is take a video of someone taking a break?? And usually the person taking those kind of videos are the worse employee's also, its a shame that someone had to put this on the internet to make themselves look like a better person, it actually makes me think they are worse.
I feel for the TSA people, having to deal with passengers on a daily basis complaining and whining.
I say shut up so we all can get through the line faster please!!

Kel Jul 17th 2008 7:55PM
Since when would it be wrong for someone to sleep when not on duty? "IF THE HOURS ARE TOO MUCH FOR HIM THEN QUIT AND GO BACK TO BURGER KING WHERE HE BELONGS" So, you must not sleep when you're not working? You have no clue if this guy was supposed to be working, on a break or even waiting for his ride home!
It must be so pretty up there on your pedestal, high above all the poor pathetic people who can only dream of being as wonderful as you.
James Jones Jul 15th 2008 9:00PM
The man is on his way home, if you notice that there are people sating next to him, he is another passenger on his way home.
gus dell Jul 18th 2008 3:30PM
