Fellow stews, let me help our hapless and misguided blogger "Den" (who obviously doesn't fly much if at all). The problem does not fall on the lap of the Flight Attendants, as this poor sod had purchased his bottle of spirits in what is commonly known in traveling circles as the "Duty Free" store which (for your enlightenment) are shops at the international departure areas that sell spirits, cigarettes, chocolate, the list goes on. These "purchases" are then delivered to the airplane and given to the passenger to stow with their other worldly goods they've brought with them. Not to be consumed like so much meade at a drunken Viking bash. Not so much. Hope this helps.
