Timeshare Consumer Group said...
Hi, I write for the website www.timeshareconsumergroup.org and I think this is a really interesting piece. For some reason it seems as though interest in timeshares has increased nationally since the start of 2008 -- I wonder why that is?
Anyhow, the "5 Secrets" portion of this article is definitely worth trumpeting elsewhere. I might contest the point about trying to argue down the sticker price of a timeshare if buying resort-direct, however -- you have to factor in the high overhead these resorts accrue from those "special offers" you also mention (free weekend getaways, etc -- even if there are no boats involved). I've corresponded with some other timeshare experts who have told me that consumers shouldn't even bother haggling with salesmen -- just go straight for the resale market. Not bad advice.
