Crash survivors debate whether to eat the pilot

Let's suppose you survive a plane crash a spend five days "huddled in a broken fuselage in sub-zero temperatures." You are running out of crackers. You have no idea how long you'll be there (especially if you are a Lost fan.)

The question is: Do you, or do you not, consider cannibalism?

The Cessna 208 with nine passengers crashed into a mountainside in Patagonia, near La Junta, a town across the border in Argentina, on Saturday. Recent volcanic explosions in the region have forced air routes out to sea, taking experienced pilots off their normal course, The Guardian reports:

The pilot died in the crash. "He had a cut on his head, a big wound and he lost lots of blood," said Victor Suazo, a Chilean police officer who was aboard the flight. "We couldn't do anything for him and he died around noon on Monday." Soon after, the survivors' hunger began to deplete their strength and they debated whether to eat the pilot. "We thought about the pilot, I don't know how to say it ... to feed ourselves from him. We thought about this, but some people were not in agreement because the situation was already so extreme."

Well, what do you think? Would you, or would you not, eat the pilot, folks?

I would rather die. Of course it would depend on the conditions. They were in a area where volcanoes were erupting. Its hot. The diseases that you might catch feeding off of a rotting corpse... theres NO WAY> Id do alot of praying.................

WELLL PERSONALLY I WOULD NOTTTT EAT A HUMAN I MEAN EWWWW DO U REALLY THINK ITS NECESSARY && IT HASENT EVEN BEEN 2 WEEKS OR LONGER I MEAN COME ON THEY CAN LOOK AT IT AS A DIET HAHA WORK OUT WHILE YOUR AT IT AND WHAT ABOUT THE PERSON YOU EAT ..WHAT ABOUT THERE FAMILY WHO WANTS TO PUT THEM TO REST..DONT U THINK KINDA SAD??

Gross! Sorry folks but I'd starve to death before I'd eat another human. I can't believe the idea of eating the pilot came up in less than a week?

I'm curious, any vegetarians on this flight, and if so, what would they have considered to eat, since meat would be out of the question? Any vegetarians out there care to comment on how one might handled such a situation as this?

ok, now i'm wondering what if you're traveling with your family and one of your family members dies. the rest of the group is trying to decide whether or not to eat him/her. do you have any say?

If they're your family, I'd think you should have first dibs on what to eat. Everyone else gets what you don't want.

For the amount of time they were stranded, I say no to eating the pilot. Your body can go for days without food. It is the water you need more then anything. It would be very hard for me to even think about eating a human being. Plus, they should have thought about his family. Everyone wants their loved ones body to be put to rest.
