Now where did my jumbo jet go? There it is!
Anyone lose a Boeing 727 lately? I just checked my hangar and all of mine are in stock. Girlfriend check one out? Nope, she's on the yacht.Well someone is missing one. Vietnamese officials at Hanoi's Noi Bai airport can't seem to figure out who left the aircraft at their airport late last year; it's currently sitting collecting dust at on the tarmac with an outdated order for "essential maintenance". Nobody has bothered to claim it.
Looking at the aircraft, there is a Cambodian flag on the skin with the name "Air Dream", but the Vietnamese don't seem to have any information on the airline -- whether that's a testament to a defunct, outdated airline and aircraft or the failures of the communist bureaucracy, I'm not sure.
Meantime, I have half a nerve to send one of my Vietnamese cousins up with a briefcase full of parking fees and say that the 727 belongs to my family. I've been meaning to bedazzle one of my aircraft and park it out on my front lawn in The Hamptons. Maybe Gridskipper will pick up the story.
What strange things have been found on planes?

I found a 400 pound man sitting next to me on a flight from Amsterdam to New York. The airlines suck. Continental said that it is public transportation and the fat slob was welcome to 25% of my tiny airline seat. He was sweating on me. It was torture

By the way, the picture of the plane: (a) is not a Jumbo Jet, it is a 727; and (b) it does not belong to a Vietnamese Airlines, it belongs to LAB, the Bolivian Airline (Lloyd Aereo Boliviano).

Air Dream is a charter airline based in Cambodia. As of 2007, it was making flights between Siem Reap, Cambodia and Hanoi, Vietnam.[1] Its single known aircraft, chartered from financially troubled Royal Khmer Airlines, was flown to Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, in "late" 2007 for maintenance and abandoned there, suggesting this charter service is defunct.[2]
[edit] Fleet
The Air Dream fleet consists of the following aircraft (as of February 2008):
1 B727-223Adv, registration XU-RKJ, cn 20989/1144, operated by Royal Khmer Airlines. [3]

Eh, it's just an old 727: who'd want it? Probably long-since paid for, needs new engines and fuel lines, maybe a new hydraulic system. Gotta be a gas hog and noisy as heck. Not enough money around to put into it. Let's just park it out in the back 40 and see if anyone really notices it. What's aluminum scrap going for these days?

Travelman is mistaken. 72's are still flown all over the world. They're the backbone of DHL's package service here in the U.S. Champion Air (until they shut down in April) has several on their roster. The major carriers have retired them because it's more expensive to fly an airplane with 3 engines instead of one with 2 engines. Also, 72's require a 3rd person in the cockpit (flight engineer) in addition to the pilot and first officer. And they're not 35 million dollar planes. You can pick up a mothballed 72 for about 4 million, with all engines and hush kits installed.

Rob answer is simple,
This really sounds like a hoax or sham story, I live here and know that the Vietnamese officials are very thorough and wouldn't let such a thing happen. And if a plane landed unscheduled as the German Bankers tried in Saigon in the early 1990's they would be locked the other side of the entry gate and just need to use the same plane to depart.

My Bad
I must have misplaced it with my last gun smuggling run, or was it drugs? Who can remember these days.
Someone will be there in a day or so to pick it up. Please have it fueled and waxed for me. The check is in the mail. Oh yes, before I forget, make sure the caviar is served at 45 farenheit and the Champaigne is served by my illegal alliens only.

Speaking of abandoning planes the USA can do its fair share
The Indiana Jones plane that was used in the shots where he fell out of the back in a rubber raft and landed on the mountain in the snow was left behind in Marrakesh and was last see rotting away on the runway near the military headquarters.
Apparently it was too expensive to fly it back home so they gave it to the Moroccans who didnt really want it.
It looked very sad wwhen I last saw it with holes in the tyres and the bodywork rotting away

It is a fake story, there is no way this could happen with a multi million dollar aircraft. Fake picture, weird comunist country. It's another bloody hook on teh teens car door nothing less.
