I took a Qatar Airways flight from London to Bangkok in Jan 07 and it was one of the best flight experiences (I did get bumped up to first class on BA many, many years ago....) I ever had and we were traveling economy! Service was great, food choice and taste fantastic. Wine flowed the whole trip, we had amenity bags, VOD terminal in front of us with a choice of over 20 movies, 30 TV shows and a bunch of games. And when we booked the flight it was the cheapest fare which is why we chose it. Would never hesitate to book Qatar again. Even the much maligned stop over in Doha was fine, they had done an overhaul of their terminal for the Asia Games which finished a couple of weeks before we came through.
The foreign airlines sure seem to not have forgotten how to give their customers service. Even a Ryan Air flight from London to Dublin a couple of years ago was a better experience than the last time I took an US based airline cross country to LA.
