TSA Screener caught sneaking gun through x-ray, isn't fired
I'm a little surprised we never reported on the original story of a TSA screener in Denver who was caught smuggling a weapon past security, but Boing Boing nonetheless provided us an update to the story today. Turns out the employee, Alvin Crabtree (pictured), received a 30-day suspension after the incident, but was allowed to return to his position. So just to clarify: a TSA employee can sneak a firearm around security and not be fired for it, and TSA officials don't have to tell us whether or not he was even disciplined for the incident. But really, if he got away with a temporary, 30-day suspension -- even without pay -- he's pretty lucky.

Wow! We'd be thrown to the ground, instantly prosecuted and tossed in jail, or worse. Hypocrisy in action, for the people, by the evil.

I saw your post last Friday, but was hoping to get more info from an employee still with TSA. The folks I emailed this weekend (baggage and personnel) had not heard of this story. The only place I can find it is on the Colorado Fox affiliate and here. I find it amazing that this story has no legs.
I am floored that this individual still has his job. He must either be an exceptional employee or be very well connected. If I lived in Denver I would be contacting that airports Federal Security Director, David Bassett and ask him why that screener is still employed.
I worked for the TSA for a little less than a year (2002-2003) and can tell you stories both good and bad. I'm sorry the public only hears about the bad ones which sadly, appear too often.
