Polar bear Knut senselessly murders ten carp in front of zoo visitors
Knut, the once-cute celebrity polar bear turned vicious killer, is at the center of a controversy over his brutal slaughter of ten carp at the Berlin Zoo. The massive polar bear, who has lived at the zoo since birth, apparently fished the carp out of the moat surrounding him and ripped them to shreds in front of several disgusted zoo patrons.
One of Germany's top newspapers, Bild, ran the headline "Knut Embroiled in Carp Scandal," and featured an article which quoted animal rights groups who criticized zoo officials for placing live animals within Knut's reach.
It seems that Knut, the psychopathic killer that he is, eventually chowed down on the fish, but according to the BBC, "There is speculation that hand-reared Knut killed the carp just for fun." One German newspaper reported that Knut "senselessly murdered the carp" before leaving their remains.
I think Tyler Cowen says it best: "Umm... HE'S A POLAR BEAR!"

Last summer I sprayed "Black Flag" into a small hive of bees just outside my kitchen window. Does that make me a mass murderer?

Isn't it kind of neat to know the Knut is able to do this even though he's in captivity? Instincts don't die, they remain intact through whatever changes come about. Proves that captivity hasn't harmed his internal knowledge, and if by rare chance he were to escape,he's be able to care for himself quite well. His paw and eye coordination is very good!

but he didn't kill for the fun of it. He killed for meals while on the go.

Bears will be bears!!!
Fish swim, bears fish... both are keeping this beautiful earth in balance and spinning round & round in perfect harmony... As long as they both keep doing thier jobs, all the fish won't pile-up on one side of the globe and cause it to fall off it's axis and tumble into a black hole...

Morons. Bloody morons.
It's a POLAR BEAR. The most natural thing in the world for it to do is kill and eat fish.

You can take the bear out of the wild, but you will never take the wild out of the bear. He is adorable and cute, but at least it was just fish. If they think that he is in any way tame because he was raised in captivity, they are mistaken. Just don't let a person get too close at feeding time. He will do what he naturally does best- get a meal to go. They need to get a life, find something of importance to report on, and leave the bear alone. Sheeshhhhh.

Umm, okay. This is a bear we're talking about. Last time I checked bears were hunters who kill for their food, their not vegitarians! People need to chill. If you're affraid of him, stay away.

In my British Literature class, the professor told the story of the scorpion and the bull frog. The scorpion was needing to get across a small stream but couldn't and tried to acquire the help of the frog to allow him to ride on his back as the frog jumped from stone to stone safely reaching the other side. The frog replied, "No, you'll just sting me as soon as we're across." The scorpion replied that he wouldn't, and they were on their way. As soon as they reached the other side the scorpion stung the frog. The frog asked why he did that, and the scorpion replied, "It's in my nature."
With that said, it is in Knut's nature, as a bear, to eat fish. If they don't want him to eat live fish, don't put them in there with him. Don't like it, get over it. Of course, you can go up to the bear and try to tell him he's wrong for doing it and try convincing him to turn vegetarian...

Put the murderer behind bars! Oops, forgot, that's where he is already!

There is a word for this: anthropomorphizing. This long word means: assigning to non-human things the morals, ethics, behaviors, feelings and/or motications of humans. This is a BEAR. He didn't MURDER the carp. He EATS carp. It would make as much sense to say that we MURDERED a steak! (OK, the nuts at PETA believe that, but people with brains don't.)

Only in Germany can idiocy like this be written. Apparently Aaron is getting that sweet, cute polar bear who's innately catching fish to survive mixed up with the real psychopathic killer...the Fuhrer.

Perhaps the fanatical 'animal rights' activists that wanted to kill him off and are now pumiping outall this psychopath propaganda might volunteer to teach him to eat Sauerbraten with a knife and fork so he doesn't have to pull innocent carp out of the moat.

The fresh water fish lawyers are going to sue the ; zoo, media, goverment, and everyone. The cold blooded killings must stop. I urge everyone to send me millions of dollars, so that the poor bear can dine on fresh whale or seal. Instead of carp. BETTER YET, let's feed the lawyers to the bear (It's a proven eater of bottom feeders).

hey Arshloch, this is what Polar Bears do in the wild, don't you know that?

Dr T your animals should stay on your own property. If your neighbor was smart, she would get a dog to eat your cat when it comes on her property.
