$24,000 is a lot of money and it's been blown in worse ways than pampering or treating oneself to a "vacation" within the continental U.S. (as opposed to giving your money to a foreign's country's vacation spot). the problem with this country is that they sent troops to Iraq. the money should be spent on electing a president who will end the war and not send our troops into senseless battles. Don't blame the American consumer who can spend his/her hard earned money as he/she sees fit, blame the President and the American people who voted for him. Of course, there's a FREE way to help the rest of the soldiers that are still alive (by the grace of God) in Iraq, and that is to vote appropriately in November.
