Will a pretty face help save your life? Delta hopes so
What makes you pay attention to the safety instructions at the beginning of a flight? For me, it's having a flight attendant right in front of me -- I feel rude if I put my head down and dig in to the Sky Mall while someone is giving a presentation. But if it's a video presentation, I'm all my over in-flight shopping.
Evidently, I'm not alone in my blatant disregard for the safety demonstration: airlines have begun creating what they hope are attention-grabbing videos in the hopes that passengers might start paying attention. Delta Airlines is the most recent airline to do so, joining Virgin Airlines in addition to others. While Virgin took the animated approach, Delta's strategy is a bit different: put a pretty woman on screen.

AOL'S listing of a topic is misleading.." Airline Sexes Up in Flight- Video" makes me think attendant is behaving like she should be in a music video with Usher. My overall opinion of video is airlines don't waste your money, IT WAS BORING!!!

if the plane crashes, you will die. The safety instructions really do you no good anyway

my job or anyone working in customer service is not to be screamed at, i'm not paid to be cursed out and i'm not paid to be felt up or beat up. use some sense. we are here to get you a drink and possibly some food, but we are not here as your presonal punching bag. you ground people have no idea how many times flight attendands have been asssauted and harrassed. if you worked as a waitress they would call the police and have you removed and possibly arrested for alot of the stuff we have to put up wit. also it may suprise you to know that there have been numerous times that the flight attendants evacuated the plane and got the passengers to safety. i can't count how many times i have had to use my medical traing on board. customer service is not a job that requires you to stand in front of the cockpit and protect the pilot when he comes out. maybe you should try working in customer service before you open your big mouth.

For the most part, I don't click on half the stories anymore. Since I'm flying soon, I thought I'd check this one out. What is happening to America? What a sex-obsessed, perverted society we have. It just keeps going further and further downhill. Very sad.

Ugh, she is Hideous! She also doesn't read very well and has some strange pronunciation ("E"-lectronic devices, phone etc.). Who decided she was attractive and why?

Yeah, at first I thought she was a tranny. Those lips are so ridiculous and fake. Didn't really make me want to watch the video any more except for the freak factor...but wasn't enough to keep my interest after about 30 seconds

While I pay attention to the spiel out of courtesy, the truth is that I know it by heart and could probably recite it myself! Many who fly regularly don't really need to listen as the instructions are basically the same on every airline. Also, the instructions are given by an equally bored, unenthused flight attendant.
On a recent flight, the male flight attendant presented them his own way....they were funny, entertaining and had everyone paying attention and laughing. If more attendants were spontaneous adding their own touches...instead of giving the bored, memorized drivel....the passengers would sit up and take notice.

First of all, you have the option of having a cop waiting at the terminal to arrest any unruly people. Happens all the time. Second, there are usually a few medical professionals on board, so I seriously doubt you are saving lives. Anyone can take a first aid course, but that doesn't make them professionals.
Face it, you are a trolley dolly handing out food and drinks. If the bad outweighs the good, it's time to find a new job. Most of the flight attendants I've seen, end up hanging out in the back of the plane and act very annoyed if you ring for their services.
I was in first class once and requested an omelette for breakfast and was told by an F/A that they had run out of them and I'd have to have fruit. I went to the bathroom a little later and ALL of the F/A's were eating omelettes hidden in the front of the cabin. Now THAT'S real customer service at its best. People who pay an exhorbitant amount of money for first class, should get what they want and let the F/A's eat leftovers!!!!

WOW!!!! I know some of you fly, but to the ones who don't........ SHUT THE F_ _K up. I have flown over a million miles on Delta, 500k on American, less on United, US Scare, Northworst, and my least favorite, Southworst. Also my younger sister was a flight attendant on Delta for years, moving up to a management position. I studied her flight attendant manuals and she taught me tons about flying safe. I am one who ignores the speech and videos, because I know them by heart. SO...... putting a beautiful babe on the video wouldn't make me listen more intently except for the first few seconds. That means I would look closely at her, but after hearing the speech, I would shut down.
But for the ones who don't fly much I recommend that you listen to the F.A.'s and watch the videos on the plane. It COULD save your life if the plane crashes and stays in one piece, even in the water. Maybe the seat cousion is filled with farts and will smell while you'rein the water, but it does float.
