New York Toilet Map
When you gotta go, you gotta go -- surely something artist Tommy Mintz had in mind when he created a toilet map for New York City, plotting 250 places to do your business in the city. Mintz was inspired to do this project as he suffers from ulcerative colitis, a long-term disease that causes frequent diarrhea. The map is a laser printed, wallet-size fold-out that marks out well-known as well as obscure toilets across the city, assuring that you will never have to hunt for one in NYC again.
It is displayed at the Jewish Museum as part of their Off The Wall exhibition and can be bought for $2 on the Internet.
Not pocket-able, but another well known effort to do the same was that of New York Restrooms a couple of years ago.

Hopefully you are in good health however some of us are not and have health problems that require frequent restroom usage and it is real nice to know where they are located and with quick access to them so that we also can enjoy being outside.Something else you should know is that ULCERATIVE COLITIS,IBS,HABBA SYNDROME or MONTAZUMA'S REVENGE cant strike at anytime, anywhere and any place wouldn't you like to know where the free restrooms are???

I have suffered from IBS (Irritable BOWLE SYNDROME) AND LIKE THE AUTHOR OF THE MAP, always had to go to the bathroom, in NYC and had toruble finding one...and had some very "close calls" Store owners are reluctant to allow you to use theirs...Even restaurants, unless you are sitting and eating, will not let you use it....so HOORAY for th enew map...I had that idea, more or less in jest over the decasdes, happy someobne finally did it.

Wow, Nicci, I hope you never suffer from a bladder infection or something like IBS or ulcerative colitis, so you never know the pain, discomfort, humiliation, and embarrassment of having to ask to perform a basic human function in places you'd much rather not. (And then to be rudely turned away by people who seem to think you're going to commit some heinous crime in their lavatories! But I digress...)
But please -- you don't have to be rude to those of us for whom a map like this could be invaluable, almost life-saving. If you're so utterly creeped out by bodily functions that you can't keep your inanity to yourself, why on earth would you have clicked on this link in the first place?
