Dry your hands at 400 mph
It was about time somebody invented a hand dryer that actually dries hands and doesn't just slowly blow air at them. I mean we have hair dryers powerful enough to take your scalp right off if you're not careful. Then why are all those public bathroom hand dryers so flimsy?
As the latimes travel blog writes today, the airport bathroom is a glorified convention hall of international filth. "Some cultures don't fret over toilet seat covers, some don't sweat the use of scalding hot water to wash one's hands, some don't pay attention to dirty faucets and instead use their "clean hands" to turn off the spigots and then spread that bacteria to the handle and edges of the paper towel dispensers." Lovely.
Fortunately, LAX is getting the A380 of hand dryers (without the ongoing pump problems, lets hope). The new Dyson Airblade hand driers are efficient, easy and hands-free. They use an ingenious blast of 400 mile-per-hour air to dry your hands. Since the air is not heated "it will not burn, and because the blast is so strong, one only needs to dip the drippy hands in for about 10 seconds, and voila, dry hands."

I used one like this in Heathrow. It looks like a towel dispenser but it's really a jet nozzle on the bottom. Great for drying hands and inflating balloons.

I used this in Somerset Mall and 1) it is ergonomically difficult to bend your hands to get them into the top and 2) it is difficult to get your hands into the 3" slot at the top without touching the sides of the dryer (which is always full of germs)

South Carolina's rest areas along route 95 have the best hand dryers. They look like the convensional kind but blast warm air at your hands ate 500 miles an hour and dry you hands in about 10 seconds.
North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida have the best rest areas in the nation. They are spacious, clean, and have real nice picnic areas. Don't even think abour New Jersey, if possible bypass New Jersey all together.

you have to stick your hands in there to dry them off?? the thing must get filthy from all those nasty wet hands (i'm sorry if you just ate a meal, but it is true)! Ron, i agree with you that it doesn't look like a good hand dryer to use.

I think I speak for many when I say I really don't care where you used it, I'm just glad that you washed your hands which made it necessary for you to use it. So please enjoy!

So where does all that germ laden mist go after it leaves your hands? I still prefer a paper towel, from a dispenser that you don't need to touch to receive one. Or maybe your shirt tail . . . at least those are your own germs. Tom

If they are washing their hands, what germs are you talking about touching on the device? Besides, most things are airborne anyways, also already on your clothes. People are trying to disinfect the world, but in reality they are killing themselves by it because they will have no immunity to things because they don't get in contact with them. Puuuuleeeeez

thetruthtroll,
not all the rest stops in New Jersey are dirty, for the most part its the ones around Newark, Perth Amboy, and Camden, the rest of the state is clean, so get your facts straight. And Im fairly sure that not all of South Carolina's, North Carolina's, or Florida's rest stops are clean, because Ive been to some pretty nasty ones there too.
Ive used this, or something very similar to this, and while It dried my hands, a cut on my hand also got infected, probablly from the germs it blows around.

You can also use the drier to dry your face by pointing the nozzel up. Just make sure your dog isn't around or else he'll think he's in a car and has his head stuck out a window.
