Saudi plane catches fire while landing in Bangladesh
If Saudi flights are anything like those in Pakistan, they probably begin with a prayer. Though it's, of course, always good to have Allah on your side, having the flight attendants lead a prayer before taking off does not inspire confidence. But maybe it helped in this case...
A Saudi airliner flying into Dhaka, Bangladesh's capital, caught fire while landing yesterday, though none of the 307 passengers or crew on board were seriously injured.
Apparently one of the engines of the plane, a Boeing 747, caught fire as the plane touched down, but the fire thankfully did not spread to the fuel reservoirs. After landing, the pilot reportedly opened the emergency exit doors and the passengers left the plane via the big yellow playground slide. Fun!

what was the purpose of saying that its probably a good thing of having allah on your side when we as a nation heard the voice of hijackers shouting allah's name and rolling and crashing planes into our nation's defense building, a farmer's field, and two building that were icons to our nation's business economy and one of the world's main arteries for trade. as far as i'm concerned allah, isn't needed on planes

It is a shame that you exhibit such a cynnical attitude about God, Allah, or the Supreme Being over all of us. What is in a name? Allah and God are one in the same - just named according to whose language you are using. Your hate of the Muslim community is evident and has no place here. Simple mindedness in assuming all Muslims are like those terrorists who caused the atrocity in 2001 is the same as calling all Americans fanatic because Jim Jones motivated 1000 lost souls to drink cyanide or because David Koresh helped incinerate 100 or so of his followers in Waco, Texas. The problem in the USA is that we give free speech to all people and then have to sit back and watch the incompetent people voice their hate instead of writing something meaningful

You must get your story right, the pilot landed the plane and also opened the emergency doors?? I guess he unloaded the baggage too.
Brandi Mar 26th 2008 4:56PM
It sads me for you to say the Captain opened the emergency doors. Flight attendants do that job, sadly articles written like this one make it out that the only thing a flight attendant does is serve drinks.

I wonder how many on board were those who danced in the streets and gave out candy to their children when 19 Saudi Arabian hijackers crashed jets into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a field in PA that killed over 3,000 Americans.
It's interesting how they pray to Allah to save themselves while at the same time they praise him when they believe he guided the evil among them to kill innocent Americans.
At the very least, I hope when the engine blew out, those on board felt the same sense of terror that they praised for being inflicted on 9/11.

Can we read properly? It's simply a Saudi Arabian airliner, landing in Bangladesh, which means it was likely filled with innocent Bangladeshi families and migrant workers. How many Bangladeshi terrorists have you heard of?
And it's custom to begin SA flights with prayers, if invoking Allah's mercy and protection lessen your confidence in the flight, that's mere Islamophobia cos you never know when your life will come to an end. Ever.

Maybe we here in the US should start each flight with a prayer as well. With the number of flights pulled daily for what seems to be unscheduled maintenance it is only a matter of time before (crash, bam, boom). You can't keep cutting personnel and expect to keep (A) and nnot (F) acft from flying. By the way, I'm now a retired Pilot and glad I made it.

Its sounds to me they all had fun sliding down the big yellow play ground slide. What idiot wrote this story. And as far as you other idiots that think the plane should have blown up and everyone die should really look at yourself in the mirror and pray to whom ever you chose to pray to that nothing like this happens to you.
Francesca Mar 26th 2008 7:21PM
Oh how ignorant to believe that all people who pray to Allah are terrorists. Can any story being told about Muslims not automatically revert back to those selective few who do horrific things? I am AMerican I live in New yOrk, i know first hand the horrors of that day, but I also know people are people and we all hurt, and we all think we are on the right side... let's try to practice tolerance, not all people are the same.

When I fly, I make the Sign of the Cross before takeoff and landing. It is a little silent prayer that does not disturb anyone else.

Allah is nothing but a piece of Sh*t (POS)! The Quran is the toliet paper used to clean up that P.O.S.!
How can you run an article praising the flight attendants praying to the POS when the same hijackers screamed that POS name when they crashed it into our buildings.
I am tired of being political correct...time to start telling it like it is.

first off, its a shame to see this kind of thing happen in any country. this is just another case of companies who do not take the passengers care and safety seriously. they don't spend enough time checking these planes out before allowing them in the air.
As for the comments about 911. You all are fools if you truly believe these planes were high jacked and flown into the towers. This was all an American Government job. Carried out in an effort to get us to believe it was high jackers , so we would stand behind the (illegal invasion) if Iraq.Did any of you watch the reaction on Bushes face, when the Secret Service guy came into that class room and told him of the plane that had hit the tower? He just sat there, reactionless. no remorse on his face, no surprise shown. Its because he knew this was about to happen. He planned it .He is a criminal who should be hung or at best , jailed for eternity for the deaths of everyone in those towers. Instead of Jailing him for the deaths of these people, instead of jailing him for the Ilegal Invasion of Iraq, Americans found it prudent to re-elect him. Quit fooling yourselves. You voted this Creap into office(twice none the less). These People Died for Bushes greed .

Dr. Pamela, perhaps you should do a spell check Doc. You lose credibility when you spell incorrectly simple words like cynnical. Did you mean cynical? Hey Doc, child of the sixties, get a clue. Condemn Islamic extremist fundamentalists. It is much more attractive then condoning the real act. I bet you look nice in a Berkah. People like you can hold hands with Michael Jackson and sing "We are the World." I choose to align myself with truth. Call a spade a spade, Pamey Whamey fuzzy wuzzy. Thank God we don't dispose of people like you the way Sharia Law does. Thank God if we did the pile wouldn't be very large either.

What all of you lack is the basic fact is that Boeing Airlines can not build planes. I was working at Mc Donald Douglas long before Boeing took over and it is still an inferior Company!

I fail to see why all the hate here . Giving thanks to and asking The Supreme Being for a safe flight sounds pretty smart to me . I give thanks everyday for all the blessings great and small that I receive .
That flight captain was playing safe when he ordered the emergency chutes deployed .
DJ Mar 28th 2008 9:55AM
Last time I checked, people sitting in exit row seats opened the doors in emergencies...so I guess most of your job is doling out food and drinks.
