I just finished lunch at Manuel's, near the corner of Congress and Third. The Latin music was excellent, the slick black leather and art nouveau-inspired Mexican decor was appealing, and the service was fine. However, the food -- the whole reason I went -- was completely forgettable. Greasy and messy, my pork tacos were bland; the rice was flavorless; and the black beans -- maybe my favorite food in the world! -- were just a puddle of ooze.
Now, I'm sitting in Jo's Restaurant with a cup of hot cocoa. I wish I'd gotten a roast beef sandwich here.
