DC to NYC for $1
Good news for those of you frequent travelers in the NYC and DC areas -- Starting today, BoltBus will be offering $1 fares on Eight daily non-stop routes between the two cities. And while travelling on the bus usually isn't too appealling, get this -- they offer free WiFi and power outlets, so that trip won't seem like any time at all. Of course, there are some conditions. To take advantage of super-cheap bus fares, book as far in advance as possible; walk-up customers will have to pay the full fare. And that $1 is supplemented by a booking fee, of course.
According to their press release: "Customers can board the street-side service in Washington, D.C., near the Metro Center Station at 11th Street and G Street. BoltBus will operate in New York near Penn Station at 33rd Street and Seventh Avenue and in south Manhattan at 6th Avenue and Canal Street."

Why take the bus when you can fly in style? (And with a queen size bed!)

WOW! That's really cheap and to offer WiFi service. I've been from Miami to Orlando for about $60 via bus. I was just reading about the taxi system in Costa Rica (http://www.costaricahq.org/) and how you could go about 20 miles for $2. This is definitely a deal. I am curious to see what the feedback of this bus experience will be. Thanks for the input. My brother lives very near Washington and I am always visiting family in New York. This is good news!

Kinda like the megabus that service southern california, las vegas, and the UK.
They increase their price now, but still much cheaper compare to gas cost or train.
no wifi, but they do have dvd and much much more comfortable than public bus.

This is great. My wife and I usually take AMTRAK to NYC, but the bus sounds rather nice. I checked out the Web site, ticketing seems very simple and stops in Washington and NYC are near public transportation. Now, as long as TSA stays away from the bus and doesn't make me take off my shoes before boarding...

Well, that's not too bad....
However, we have FREE public transportation on the Big Island of Hawai'i..... so you could, essentially, take a complete driving tour all the way around the island at no charge!! And that's 6 hours of normal driving..... so, about 300 miles roundtrip!!
