As long as you use a good one, it is totally worth it. My father is a frequent traveller, and though he certainly has the ability to research and book online, his time is important to him, so he pays someone who is excellent to do it for him.
I. on the other hand, love researching and spending hours upon hours finding the best deals and best places. If I didn't have the time or the inclination, I'd be perfectly happy using a travel agent.
