Mexican cruise sickens more than 100 passengers
A 10-day cruise to Mexico ended Monday in San Diego with 106 passengers and six crew members suffering from a highly contagious virus that caused nausea, vomiting, and other unpleasant stomach ailments. (Use your imagination.)
About six days into the trip, dozens of the 1,226 passengers aboard the Holland America liner called the Ryndam began reporting symptoms of the virus. According to the AP, this is the fourth virus outbreak on this ship since the beginning of last year.
Note to self: Avoid the germ trap known as the Ryndam.

does $100/day pay you enough to stay in your cabin?
Personally I think I'd want at least $25/hour.
Which would be a lot more than the cruise line ponied up for its passengers:

My husband was an entertainer on this ship all last month and was never ill....it is not the cruise lines fault when this happens. It is a small community when you are aboard, in a small space, so any air born illness can spread very quickly....we have been aboard when this illness has broken out on other ships and other cruise lines and of course it is very unfortunate, but from our experience the ship's personnel are very helpful and try to make you as comfortable as possible! Travel always has it's challenges and trials.
