Learn greetings in 12 languages-- from a parrot
Whenever I've learned to hello in a country's language, I feel better. It's not much, but it's a start. Here's a parrot who can help you master 12 ways to greet people around the globe. Bibi's pronunciation is clear which makes learning from an African Grey parrot an easy method to follow. You'll learn a few ways to talk African Grey Parrot as well. Now, all you have to do is find one of Bibi's buddies to teach you good-bye and thank-you. AnimalSites has posted more of Bibi's antics on YouTube.

National Geo has a story this month on animal cognition, which goes beyond what they can imitate to what they can understand. It tells about Alex the gray parrot who could count, identify shapes and sizes, and even invent words when introduced to something new, like calling an apple a "banerry," a mashup of banana and cherry:

Marilyn,
I'll have to check out that article. It sounds like Bibi and Alex would be great friends!

Bibi can now say hello in 20 languages. She can also count in English, Japanese, German, Spanish, and Korean. Today, is actually Bibi's 2nd birthday. She has been saying "happy birthday" and "I'm only 2" all day. Right now, we're trying to get her on video saying "happy birthday to me" and "I'm only 2 years old." We'll post her birthday video on AnimalSites.

Eric,
I'm glad to hear that Bibi is going strong. You could open a language school!
