Neil, a Gadling reader and fellow blogger, gave us the tipoff on this interesting video about the differences in how people count money. It's much easier to watch in a video than try to describe, which I think makes this a great clip. I totally agree with how East Asians and Americans count money (the two cultures I'm most familiar with).
I've been living/travelling in Russia for the past 2 years, and I've never seen anyone count money as shown in the film. Most Russians count money like they do in the US.
Also, while I was in Kuwait, almost EVERYONE counted money like you showed happens in Japan.
I'm form Poland and I think you are mistaken about how Polish count moeny. I mean the way the Canadians or English do it is the most common in Poland. Anyway - a good clip :)
yep, i count money like an american...in my first job handling money, i was chided for counting it the first way, my boss telling me i could not get an accurate count. dunno if she was right, but i've counted it "her" way ever since. cool how different countries count in different ways, though--glad we all have money to count.

I'm from Canada, and that's the exact way I've always counted money. I wonder if I saw others doing it as a kid, or if it's just genetic :).

We do not count money like that in Africa either (the second last one), we count it like the last person did.
