Celebrities to make announcements over airport PA systems
You know those routine announcements at the airport that just blend into the fluorescent-lit background? They're about to become more distinct -- or at least that's what airports are hoping. Many are getting rid of the generic automated voices and replacing them with recognizable celebrity voices. A few have already implemented celebrity announcements; for example, country artist Lee Ann Womack greets visitors this way: "This is Lee Ann Womack inviting you to relax and unwind in one of the airport's many restaurants. Thank you for choosing Nashville International Airport."
It seems to me that celebrity announcements will tend to sound commercial, as though the airport were a product being pushed on travelers. I don't care if Lee Ann Womack invites me to relax -- it's not like I chose the airport. It's far more likely that I chose the cheapest ticket and my route took me through Nashville.
But then again, as airports become destinations in their own rights, with museums and shopping malls, perhaps it is a good marketing ploy to make each airport stand out from the others.
Listen to Rodney Dangerfield, Ted Kennedy, and other celebrities instruct you in airport etiquette here.

I like Ted a lot better as an airport announcer than as a legislator.

Kennedy would make a better driving instructor for Hillary Clinton

Ahhh...just what we need: MORE celebrity worship. And this whole idea of politicians as "celebrities"....This is why we're going to end-up with President Obama - Someone tell me exactly what he's ever done. YES WE CAN!

This is neat. Since Rodney Dangerfield is my favorite comedian, I wonder how long will they continue to use his voice? Sadly, he had passed away not too long ago.

Why would anyone want to listen to him - as an announcer or senator - he is a blowhard and a poor excuse for a human - Just ask Mary Jo's parents.
But, better at the airport than our Capital!!!!

here we thought he was suppose to be a senator all along. He finally found his calling

What are they doing? Trying to make people sick by using Ted Kennedy's voice. Who would want to hear him. He is a useless Senator and a useless human.

What a lying sack! This country is so full of dumb-ass people. Ted Kennedy gets drunk and kills a girl, doesn't do one hour in jail, remains a senator for 35 damn years, President Clinton lies to a grand jury, lies to the American people, oh, he didn't inhale when he was smoking weed, oh, he didn't have sex with Monica. Now we have a loudmouth lying witch or a native black muslim running for president of this country, both spouting off about how they're going to change this country! Yeah, I believe it!!Americans WAKE UP! you're getting dumber by the minute!!!!!

This is not a new thing, I remember Rodney Dangerfield's voice over the Las Vegas airport PA when I was there in 1975.

Listenng to automated announcements are annoying enough without having to hear them from someone that is annoying.

what does kennedy announce? the location of the terminal bars?
Kent Feb 17th 2008 10:25AM
It was reported a few years ago that Ted Kennedy was on the no-fly list as a suspected terrorist or person of interest. Of course, that was soon corrected after he criticized the system.

I couldn't relax in any airport if I heard that fat, drunken no-good's voice. He is scum.
Diane Feb 17th 2008 10:47AM
Ted Kennedy is the most over-rated piece of scum on the planet. He is a terrible senator and I would assume he has been re-elected for all these years only because he is a Kennedy. What? Are the people of Massachusetts afraid of him if they don't vote for him? Why else would they vote for the drunken, lying blob? Politics is a dirty game and he is the dirtiest.

I think he should spend more time doing voice overs...perhaps this will keep him away from the scotch bottle.
To think that he shares DNA with the other Kennedy's that are no longer with us...what a waste.
Maybe he'll evntually drink himself into a stupor and wither away.
