This time, a passenger struck a flight attendant
Just last week, we wrote about a pilot whose mental breakdown caused an emergency landing.
Now, AP reports that a flight from New York to Paris was diverted to Boston last night because a French passenger "struck a flight attendant." Why? We don't know. Nonetheless, the American Airlines flight landed safely after 8 p.m. Wednesday night at Logan Airport. The "attacker" was taken into custody.
Is it the cabin pressure that makes people go crazy?
###A commercial airplane with a king size bed? I wonder how much that costs...

PAUL ~ YOU'RE AN IDIOT. Why don't you walk in someone else's shoes for once! Do you actually think it's enjoyable to have to tell passengers 100x's to turn off their phones??? Why do passengers like you have to make the flt attendants job so difficult?!!! Tell me something what other places of business do you go to that you're entitled to "hit" the person waiting on you!??
We should change flight attendants title to "babysitters" because of the way half of the passengers act. I can imagine you are the kind of guy that actually hits your wife, or significant other. Man, I bet your mamma is proud of you!!!

Guys, cell phones are not dangerous at all in airplanes. The only reason cell phones are not allowed on airplanes is because the FCC cut a deal with the FAA to restrict these calls to minimize the havoc caused on cell phone company's satelites. The fact remains that any of the airplane's navigational equipment, transmittal equipment, etc. is extremely insulated from these signals. In reality, if 300 passengers were on a plane, all 300 could be on the phone at once and it wouldn't marginalize the airplane's safety one bit. I am torn about this issue. Perhaps there could be 1/2 hour time period during each flight that allowed customers to use their cell phones. Just think of the possibilities with respect to on-line capabilities. Certain carriers are considering adding antennaes to their planes and charging wireless internet access. The only problem is that the antennaes cost about $1 million each to install and the payback is uncertain. What does that tell you about the cell phone safety on airplanes? Don't be so naive, this is the truth!!

As a seasoned World wide traveler, I have seen a lot of your kind nasty passengers ( that is if you did some traveling ).
Any bad behaviors on board are not acceptable.
granted, Flight Attendants are not all Angel...but their jobs are very stressful in dealing with that French Passenger or your kind..
You can write a complaint about the bad service to the airlines, but NOT striking the Flight Attendants.

The above quote was copied from a AOL travel board posted by a flight attendant in resonse to someone who had a few complaints against rude attendants.
The above says it all. I'd even call them terroristic threats!

The Federal Code of Regulations prohibit passengers from interfering with flight crew members. Any such actions are subject to detention and potential arrest by Federal authorities. Disruptive passengers, such as those who threaten others, become loud and abusive, smoke , cell phone flight usage or disable smoke detectors are also subject to arrest. Flight attendants do carry a "badge." The badge is the wings on every one of the flight attendant's uniforms. Flight Attendants also carry a federal airman's certificate issued by the FAA. So, if you "choose" to ignore the federal issue regulations, you will find that "service" is the last thing on this flight attendant's mind. It will always be the "safety" of the flight. So, roll the dice and take your chances.

On the cell phones. The reason the airlines have you turn them off is correctly described as an agreement with the cell operators. However it is not an evil conspiracy but rather science. The reason is that the cell tower system is not designed to switch cell sites for 100+ users as they fly at 300-600mph over them. Especially at take off, the switching relay speed through the system, would effectively shut down cell towers in a radius of 10 miles of each plane taking off. Cell phone use on planes will happen as each plane acts as a cell (for lack of better terminology) tower, and each plane's signal is pre-programmed into the cell system in a jump ahead, preprogrammed routing through towers, or as altitude increases, optionally sent upward to a satellite.

You have a job to do, then do it, preferably without the attitude and ego. WE ARE PAYING YOU!!!! Not to be treated like cattle, or a target for your frustration. We, the passengers have the right to be frustrated when we arrive at out destination hours late, our luggage abused or no where to be found. " THE PASSENGERS PAY OUR SALARIES"! Say that 100 times in a row! I have had the misfortune of hosting a party for Pilots and Attendants. Drunks, sloppy behavior, rudeness to the staff trying to serve you on the ground. What goes around comes around. No details were given on why the "FRENCH" not American assualted the Attendant, but my opinion is that after the details are released we'll be seeing a POSITIVE change in Flight Crew attitude and Behavior and the passenger will be exhonorated

I have and use a cell phone, but can only "pray" that airlines continue to restrict their use in the air. It's bad enough to be on the road with all the idiots using their cells while driving, but I can't imagine having to listen to 100+ people talking on their cell phones in the confines of an airplane for any flight duration.

i have a really great idea,all people in the u.s. just take trains and buses and cars for one month and let's just see how high and mighty or should i say empty their seats and paychecks would be,can you say line up in the wal-mart greeter's employment line. think about it.

Lets face the truth. Flight Attendants more often than not truly believe that they are the Sky Marshalls and enforcers dressed in polyester. The attitudes of many are deplorable. Remember, you are OUR employees when WE fly on the aircraft. So, watch your tone because there are other airlines that would LOVE our business. So, my laptop is ON, my cell phone is ON, and the texting I do is to tell others what a bore you are!
By the way, where have all the attractive and STRAIGHT flight attendants gone? I know, there working for Asian airlines !!!

Why is it so hard to just follow the rules? Sure, we get bored on long flights but what's wrong with a book or magazine? Better yet, take a nap so no one will have to deal with people like you.

Flight attendants don't believe they are the sky marshalls. They are obligated to follow Federal regulations, therefore, if you don't help them by following the rules, they can't do their job. This goes for ALL U.S. Airlilnes. Blame the FAA and the DHS, not the airline staff... You think they WANT to make your flight miserable? They know how inconvenient some of these things are! They have to fly as passengers, too! Just look at that recently grounded Air Canada flight. If some of those passengers had just followed the rules and worn their seatbelts, they would not have been injured so badly during the turbulence. Frequent flyers are the only people who understand how difficult it is to be a flight attendant.

The employees of the airlines are exactly that - employees of the airlines. Their wages are not being paid by the passengers. I have travelled often enough to wonder about the manners of people. Cell phones should be off on the plane. If you have calls to make then call from the airport before the flight. I cannot imagine a more horrifc flight than 300 people talking on their darned cell phones. How charming is that and how egocentric! What happened to our natural curiousity of talking to a stranger? Finding out what they do for a living. A flight agent should not have to tap adults on the shoulder to remind them to fasten their seatbelts, and turn-off the cell phone/computer.

Jim wanted to know where all the straight and pretty flight attendants have gone? We married rich executives and pilots to get away from boors like you. We always send the fat, ugly and gay attendants to you because you're fat, ugly, rude, obnoxious and think you're better than we are. Ever wonder if we spit on your plate? BTW - Have YOU taken a 2/3rds pay cut and have to put up with more and more ignorant passengers who don't really know what to do in an emergency and end up killing you all? Many survivors after impact were killed by the people who think they know all about what we MUST DO PER FAA regulation EVERY trip just for people who ignore us then kill us after we go down - they panic. Are YOU a panic type a person? Stop looking for a grope and pay attention. No one wants you - but maybe the life you save will be your own.
