Best prank ever: Stopping time at Grand Central Station
I wish I had been there. This is possibly one of the most astounding (visually at least) stunts ever pulled. No exaggeration--just watch the video.
Over 200 New Yorkers recently walked into one of the busiest train stations in the world, New York's Grand Central Station, and at exactly 2:30 pm, all froze in place. There's one guy in the video who froze just as he was stooping down to pick up some scattered papers. Talk about commitment.
Get the full briefing on the backstory here.
UPDATE: Part 2 of this prank, now in London and now even more impressive.

Hilarious! I wish I could have seen it live. The guy who asks how long this has been going on is honestly creeped out... Brilliant, well done!

The best part was when they "unfroze" and just walked away like nothing happened. COOL !!!

IF YOU CAN'T TAKE A JOKE AND A GOOD LAUGH ONCE IN A WHILE;YOU MUST LIVE A MISERABLE LIFE;AND SHOULD PROBABLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. LIFE IS SHORTSO; LAUGH AND BE HAPPY;OTHERWISE YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU WILL BE MISSING.

Interesting how we were able to clearly hear the comments of the so-called "passerby people" making their statements of "how cool" and "how long have these people been doing this"?, etc. They were fitted with microphones people! So YOU, the viewers were duped too, not realizing those walking around looking and acting incredulous were plants, and part of the prank.
Don't these people have a life? oh, I get it - they're ACTORS, so no, they really don't. I'd expect this from teenagers, but it's pathetic seeing grown-ups act so stupid and immature.

Pam, honey, your prejudice is showing. Is that how you get your fun, putting people down? Takes all kinds, I guess. Rock on!

i respect your comments and opinions and can't completely disagree, frankly. what i DID enjoy about this was, for just a slight moment in time, it actually took SOME people out of their norm and made them look at life a little differenty, a little less mundanely, and with a hint of excitement - if even for a moment. i only wish i'd been there, even with the 'plants', for the experience (IF it truly wa a 'moment'). but, then, with video you just never know if you're not there personally(including me).

They put microphones around so we could hear the responses of the passersby. They weren't "fitted" as you said Pamela. Why bother to go to all the trouble of doing this brilliant prank if it were a hoax? It was an interesting experiment ! You sound like a really bitter person....as others have said, life is short! Enjoy! Lighten up!

How brilliant. Actors or not, adults or not, these people (no matter how childish it looked to you) put a little something different into the lives of those who were witnesses. They made the day different in a silly sort of way. I wonder how many people slowed down just a little to see what was going on around them? How many people had a smile put on their face or a chuckle put into their day?

Wow, wish there were some other planet where you could live and be away from the rest of us. Were you beaten as a child?
Carmen Feb 26th 2008 9:39PM
If you read the backstory, they say that they had agents with mikes in the crowd approach passersby purposely to engage them in regular conversation about what was happening, in order to know what their reactions were. The agents acted like shocked passersby asking other passersby, "Wow what is this?"
Read the backstory!

A single parabolic microphone could hear people from several hundred feet away. The fact that you can hear them in the video doesn't mean anyone was duped.
