The advice here is great,but I would like to say that there is a cheaper and (for some) more practical solution for the map.
If you go to: http://www.eurail.com/eurail-planning you can download their railway map for free as a pdf. Then it's very easy to print it out (scale it so that it fits on to about 12 pages or more). If it's that big you can easily see all the small cities and the resolution is still very good.
Also, this helps because you can see the different railway lines that the Eurail Pass has. And it took me about 10 minutes to cut and tape the pages together.
Anyways, that's my map until I get their actual map when I order my pass.
