The 10 most common foreign cities in which Americans are arrested
Tijuana rarely makes the top of any list for any reason--unless, of course, the list happens to rank the most common places for Americans to be arrested abroad. In that case, Tijuana proudly stands as number one.Police in the sprawling border town arrested 520 Americans in 2006, more so than any other city on the planet. In fact, according to statistics released by the American State Department and published by the LA Times, Mexico claims four of the top five cities in which the most Americans were taken into custody. Only London, at number 4 on the list with 274 arrests stood in the way of Mexican penal domination.
Of course, the statistics are a little skewed since the arrest numbers do not take into consideration the overall number of tourists. If only 700 Americans visited Mexico, for example, and 520 were arrested, I'd certainly be concerned about those odds. Thousands of Americans visit Mexico on an annual basis, however, thus turning those 520 arrests into a very small percentage indeed. Nonetheless, it's always wise to carry a $20 bill with you just in case...
The top 10 cities you're most likely to get arrested in are...

Well of course Tijuana is at the top. Americans (mostly underage, BTW) only go there to get wasted and act stupid, certainly not for the beauty of the city, as it is filthy and hoards of children swarm you offering Chic-lets. Mexican gangs jump the drunk Americans, beat and rob them, and then the Americans get arrested, so the police can make some money off the "bail" their drunk friends pay to get them out of jail.

yea but they get to sneak into our country and expect freedom to do what they want we pay good money to visit thru proper means and they arrest us just to make some tequilla money I say do the same thing here arrest them all sight on scene and make them pay the 20$ as well unless they don't have immunity then ship them off...heres a good idea every illegal in the country should be sent to iraq to fight for us earning the military pay so our troups that have been there may come home and see there families and the ilegals that make it or do real well will earn immmunization into our society....
glenn Jan 11th 2008 5:17PM
sure there charging the 20$ a pop for our tourists there irregardless what they are doing there just so someone can make some tequilla money.......I have a good idea lets take all the illegals ship them to iraq give them military wages let our troups come home to be with there families again see the babies that were born while they were away let there minds feel at ease for once and the ones that make it or do something totally valient will earn themselves immunity into our society if not this then lets fine alll of the ones we find here the 20$ payable on the scene and with proper documentation are released if not arrested and sent back to where they came from

We go over there and get arrested in a heartbeat. They come over here and we give them food, medical care, housing, jobs, etc. and rarely arrest them when they do break the law.
GLENN Jan 11th 2008 5:07PM
well after 3 attempts to do this I try again....
My comment should be easily understood lets fine all of the ones we find here the same 20$ fine except that this will be payable on demand and with proper documentation will be released if not sent back to where they came from......OR BETTER YET ! lets round them all up let them go to iraq to fight with/for us earning military wages so our troups that have been there may come home and see there families and babies that were born while gone and the ones that make it or do something valient shall earn themselves immunization into our society

i grew up in San Diego. the reason there are so many arrests is because the local and college kids under 21 go there to drink and party along with all the other people going there to drink and party. rowdy and people drunk in pulic tend to get themselves arrested.

Heck, we can save those $20 bills. The fence we want to put up on the boarder, just put a lock on it so WE can't go across. Geez, now wasn't that easy?? :-)

Can't believe that five of the 10 are in Mexico. And then people fly off the handle when Americans complain because so many Mexicans cross our border illegally. Buy, we should be as unforgiving as they are.................
william rauh Jan 11th 2008 5:52PM
Can't believe that five of the ten are in Mexico. Boy...people have the nerve to complain because Mexicans cross our borders and live and work in America illegally. We should be as unforgiving with the Mexicans as they are with Americans.

You know, w, All those European cities and places are filthy and disgusting-- Rome, Greece, England, and Spain are the filthiest!
Lisa Jan 11th 2008 6:45PM
Yep, we go to jail - but cross their borders legally. They get all the aid the USA has to offer - and they are illegal....go figure!
Ron Jan 11th 2008 7:00PM
The interesting thing is 6 out of the ten cities are in Mexico and yet the Mexicans are upset when an illegal in the US is arrested for being here. I have seen Mexico and it aint nothing to write home about.

The map of Nogales is not that of the city they are referring to. Nogales, Son., is a dirty border city across from Nogales, AZ. People go there for the booze and whores-and get arrested.

who would've known.....Tijuana made #1!
I did not get arrested but came very close...
As I walked from vendor to vendor,
I passed by a man that told me that EVERYTHING in his store was 100% OFF!
It seemed odd and since I wasn't looking to buy clothing,
I told him no thank you and tried to walk away.
He said again,
'100% OFF of every t-shirt in the place.'
So I picked out a shirt and thanked him,
then tried to walk away...
He started to YELL, 'policia policia thief thief!'
The other vendors gave me looks that would have killed.
I tried to hand it back to him and said no thank you,
but he THREW the shirt back at me and said 'YOU stole it YOU are a thief.'
So, I sat it down on the last table and WALKED AWAY.
(I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO TIJUANA AGAIN)
and yeah, no doubt.........they made number one!
In hindsight,
he probably meant 10% off,
but said 100% instead.
In any language 10 is not 100.

~Beware... they don't speak English very well there~

It's not surprising that 6 of the top 10, including 4 in the top 5, are in Mexico. Their cops are sooooooo corrupt that it isn't funny. I would never go there for a vacation!

However, I can imagine a lot of those Americans in Mexico are 1) escaping the US cops, 2) getting too drunk and rowdy, 3) and looking for whores.

Harsh you say ?? There will be no special bilingual programs in schools, no special ballots for elections, all government business will be conducted in our language. Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote no matter how long they are here. Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office. Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no foodstamps, no health care, or other government assistance programs. Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage. If foreigners do come and want to to buy land that will be ok, But options will be restricted. You are not allowed waterfront prop[erty. That is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country. Foreigners may not protest ; no demonstrations, no waving a foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his polocies, if you do you will be sent home. If you come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down and sent straight to jail. Harsh, you say?........The above lawys happen to be the immigration laws of " MEXICO" !!!!!!!!!!!

Well at least these other countries can control 'bad apples' since we can't. Some just can't act right, no matter where they go. If you act right and not like an idiot, you'll be alright. Some common sense never hurt, either.
