I have found Steves books an essential addition to any of my Europe trips but certainly not as the lone book. The range of restaurant and hotel reviews is very limited and for these I prefer something along the lines of LonelyPlanet. But as a guide through museums and historical sites you learn so much more if you use Steves books. It is like getting a private tour each time.
