Costa Rica was a dream. I'd love to retire there someday. :)

Many years ago we arrived in Savannah-le-mar from Negril after a two hour bus ride with chickens and goats packed around us and in cages over our heads. I promptly found a ditch to vomit in from the heat and smell of our ride had made me sick. I recovered after a group of smiling school children chidding me to take their pictures (and then would hide behind posts) then asked for change as a "charge" for the photos. The day got better with the discovery of the spice market, the tiny shops and friendly people. But my strongest memory is still the smelly bus!

This book looks like the perfect decoration for my coffee table. My last trip was to Central America, specifically Nicaragua and Costa Rica. While most are probably somewhat familiar with Costa Rica, and it is a lush, gorgeous green country, Nicaragua blew me away.
I was able to experience the majority of the country from coast to inland volcano, and from small villages to huge cities - Nicaragua certainly has something for everybody, but the most amazing part was the people: very friendly and very proud of their country, despite years of corrupt government, with most still living in some form of poverty. I just could not believe just how much both the country and its people had to offer - wonderful trip.
As for my next trip, this last one has just encouraged me to head farther south, into South America. I'd love to explore all the landscapes and cultures that continent has to offer.

Best trip was my honeymoon to France, Belgium, Italy, and Switzerland. It was my first real vacation with my husband. We didn't have any firm plans, just ideas of places we wanted to see. Each day, we got in our rental car and headed out for the next adventure. We ended up seeing and doing things that we never would have planned and that is what made the trip so great! I am normally a control-freak, but I have seen the error of my ways (at least when it comes to vacations!)
