Yes, I've been to China and I lived in Taiwan and Singapore. Co-opting culture gets on my nerves. If it means what it's supposed to mean and used in an authentic way, fine. But, when icons that mean something to the culture they are in are used in ways to make American television for people who have no idea what Buddhism is about, I think it promotes stereotypes.
What would people think if that was the Virgin Mary in the background?
That's my opinion.
