Virgin America hosts in-flight Victoria's Secret models
I know I've been writing a lot of posts about Virgin America (VX) lately, but what can I say? They keep launching random sales and PR stunts. You've gotta give it to them; the legacy carriers in the US use about jack for advertising. This time VX sponsored a Victoria's Secret in-flight PJ party / fashion show on a flight between New York and Los Angeles. On November 28th, regularly scheduled passengers were met at the gate with a kickoff gala and supermodels Selita Ebanks and Miranda Kerr. Over the course of the runway fashion show style flight, some members were given "supermodel" makeovers while the other unfortunate passengers were only treated to hot supermodels strutting down the aisle.
Although Air New Zealand has tried this before, this is the first time that such hijinks have been pulled off domestically. And I have to say, it's been generating a lot of positive buzz from the airline community. Hopefully, Virgin America will let Gadling know before they do this again, we can pass the news on and you can strategically book your ticket.

Think Laura Bush will allow this on Air Force One?

I think it's a good idea. There will be no fundamentalist Muslims on these flights because they might see a little more female flesh than they are used to.
Good security measure on their part.

If this tactic keeps families from flying Virgin, I'm on board. A screaming brat is way more annoying than a ditzy stewardess.

good point - but child free flights should cost extra, to help subsidize family flights

I don't have any objections to this whole episode, but I find it ironic that it happened not too long after another airline kicked a woman off for wearing something too sexy. Just another kick-off for an inter-airline advertising/reputation war. From one extreme to the next...

Um yes this would make me not go to this airline... sorry but with all the sex in the media, and all the self image problems.... great another place where i cant get away from it.

Hooters Airline tried a similiar tactic - they are now defunct, out-of-business, dead in the water.

We all have these desires and feelings. It is lunacy to denie them. I moved to a country where prostitution is legal. What a wonderful difference in attitude and freedom. I am so glad to have left the prudes back in the US. It is so easy to condemn actions of others and so difficult to leave people be. It's just a fasion show for God's sake. By the way,I am a member of the "mile-high-club" and proud of it. Many people would like to join but have not had the opportunity. How about you?

This is a new LOW in American culture. We're known worldwide for being crass and tasteless and tacky, (for the right and the wrong of it), but this only adds to our reputation of being self serving and sick. Well, I can only do this, vow to never patronize that airline and I fly several times a week. So multiply me by thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, and Virgin will end up "paying" for this ill conceived campaign for a lot of years to come.

This is a good idea!!! The only objection is that there are lots of people who would probably complain...as they are doing on this page... All in all however, I wish I could have been there, or I hope they keep it up!!!
