Thanks Grant for bringing up this worthwhile topic. I agree with Marty about the importance of tourism dollars and I agree with Nancie about managing the number of tourists at particular sites before it's too late. Angkor Wat is a good example, and was the unfortunate poster child for National Geographic Traveler's "Places Rated" 2006 survey of top World Heritage sites. Here's what our sustainable tourism experts said about Angkor last November:
