Photo of the Day (11/6/07)

Wow, this looks so very inviting. Don't you just want to wade in and take a nice, warm bath?
Well, it's probably not a good idea unless, of course, you're a lobster wanting to commit suicide. Otherwise, you should really keep your distance from this boiling pit of death that Mother Nature, for what ever reason, has made very attractive and alluring. Just check out those colors!
Congrats go out to Fiznatty for sneaking a shot of Morning Glory in Yellowstone during one of its more calm moments. I hope she got out of the way before it blew.

Photo of the day -11/06/07. This same photo was shown in National Geographic magazine several months ago and their explanation as to why 'morning glory' has this nasty appearance is that tourist continue to throw coins into the hole 'for good luck'. These same coins mixed with the natural mineral composites of the water hole causes the acid discoloration around the water. Hundreds of man hours are spent for park employees to remove the coins each year. Just another way mankind destroys Mother Natures beauty!

Fascinating. Thanks for the inside scope. It's sorta like smog in LA -- sure makes the sunsets more beautful!

I just got back from a month in Africa, so I only saw this today. Thanks for choosing another of my photos!
And to clarify, I am male.
