Bizarre Foods From Around The World
What constitutes typical North American food these days is kind of gross, if you ask me. I'm talking about all the processed junk we put in our bodies. But compared to some other 'regional' cuisines that are mentioned in this article, I guess we're pretty lucky. Need examples?- In Iceland, for instance, Hakarl is made of putrefied shark meat. Sheep's head (served in its entirety) is also popular.
- In Saudi Arabia, camels are a popular item -- camel's feet and sour camel humps in particular.
- Fried grasshoppers, earthworms and locusts are all the rage in Africa.

in Hawaii, the Chinese restaurants serve stewed chicken feet. The Filipinos serve warm pig blood raw. Stewed pig entrails. The Japanese eat fermented soybeans.

my grandpa's parents came over from denmark and they would eat just about anything. his father liked to eat fresh raw shellfish right at the shore, and when one guy caught an eel and didnt want it, he took it home and his wife cut it up (alive) and fried it. my grandpa swears it was still twitching in the pan.

Sheesh, Gina...lighten up! Nothing disgusting about men enjoying a good camel toe or beaver dinner. And I personally, thought Vince's, John's & Zeke's comments were funny. Why does this bother you??

some kind of snake dish in a restaurant in Arizona. Also at a dinner party in Mexico City I ate "cesos," which is calf brain. Brain tastes disgusting. Everyone ordered something different, and I happened to taste this one particular item, was disgusted by it and asked what it was. That's when someone at the table informed me it was calf brain.

Canned Pig Brains added to a skillet of scrambled eggs when the eggs are about 80% done. Yummy.
And nothing beats properly prepared Mountain Oysters
....better than any Sirlon steak.

I watched a program years ago about a poor family in India. They had a job of going into fields and scaring rats out of the crops. When it was time for dinner, they would catch some and eat it. I felt so bad for them.
I never had a chance to try anything real exotic. But since I am creeped out by sushi, I guess I would take everyone's word on how camel, snake, etc tastes.

This might trump them all:
It's called "living cheese" and it's illegal in many parts of the world, but still considered a delicacy by a few die-hards (or psychotics, if you will.)
The reason it's called "living cheese": It's cheese infested with maggots.
They couldn't get me drunk enough to try any of that...
