I've dived Shark Alley. It was scary -- insofar as you see great whites -- but you're in a huge cage, so the fear factor gets, um, watered down a lot, IMO.
These shark dives are all "staged," meaning the group hopes to see sharks on the dive and is looking for them. The *scariest* shark dives are those dives during which you see a shark that you did not expect to see.
FWIW, I just got back from a week of diving with tiger sharks in the Bahamas. No cages -- just you and the sharks. Brilliant. Have a look:
