Air New Zealand to Offer Gay-Themed Flight
Bring on the feather boas, shimmery eye makeup, and stiletto heels. And if you want to sleep, maybe some sleeping pills, because Air New Zealand's gay-themed flight from San Francisco to Sydney promises to be 14 hours of nonstop fun.
The flight is scheduled to depart February 25 for the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in Sydney, Australia, which is one of the world's most well-attended gay events. Passengers can expect drag queens, pink cocktails, and a cabaret, as well as gay-friendly movies and a "Get-Onboard Girlfriend" going away party.
Air New Zealand flight-tested a similar theme for Sydney's Mardi Gras in 2007, when flight attendants wore pink feather boas and the pilot donned fairy wings. American Airlines, Air Canada, and other airline companies have become visible sponsors of gay pride events, but none so far have used "campy" programming to appeal to gay and lesbian travelers.
I'm a married, heterosexual woman, but this is one 14-hour flight I just might actually enjoy.

ugh... I'm a gay guy, and I would rather impale my own head on a railroad spike than set foot on that plane.

What really amazed me and also pisses me off royally are the attitudes and beliefs of heterosexuals. I remember early attempts in Hollywood of depicting gay behavior. In one film, starring Frank Sinatra, police raided the semi rigs on the east side of Manhattan, a famous trysting spot for horny gay men. Out of the trucks poured the swishiest, campiest group of guys in the world. How stupid! These guys wouldn't have been in the trucks in the first and second place. It was the directors idea of what gay men are supposed to do. Likewise, the idea of this flight is the imagined behavior of gay men and women in the eyes of heterosexuals attempting to capitalize on their and the publics general ignorance. How any thinking person could possible support this idea is anathma! But then, were talking "thinking person" here. Perhaps it is a commodity that is non-existant!

sounds rather dumb! why is it that someone is always trying to throw gay-ism in our faces.... lets write to these airlines and see if the next time there is a christian convention -will they play christian music on the flight?... and yet someone is always ready to throw that card out "dont throw your religion in my face".. well - dont throw your llfestyles in ours!!!!!!!

Gayism means dollars, that is why a gay themed flight would work and book well. I can't imagine hoards of people booking a Christian themed flight. It doesn't sound like much fun for the rest of the people who aren't Christian, unlike a Gay themed outing, where many could find some pleasure. Stop the gay hating, it begins with you.......

monca,
Actually, the Vatican is offering flights for Catholic Pilgrims -- so there's at least one Christian-themed airline out there.
Check it out:

It sounds like fun....can't imagine anyone NOT having a good time. :D It does suck that people keep marketing homos as a bunch of wild out of control drugged up drag Queen culture......when in reality...most homos are boring sacks.... The majority of Gay People are married to the opposite sex and have children. Sssssssssssssooooooooo put that in your pipe and smoke it !! It's ok to be RADICAL and WILD and Free spirited at Mardi Gras...cuz that's what it's supposed to be. It's a great time to relax and exhale and just "let it all hang out" and be yourself or....be whoever you wanna be.....as long as you don't hurt yourself or others.... right ? Royt? RIGHT !

oh you silly gooses. This is not sterotyping gays. Its a flight to a gay and lesbian mardi gras!! If it was just a gay feather and boa flight as a theme for all flights, yes, I'd agree with several of the posts. But someone going to this mardi gras is going to be flamboyantly fun!

I totally enjoy hearing all the homophobes'comments.
BECAUSE, being in my mid-twenties, most of the people out there who hate gays will be dead by the time I am forty something.
Think of it, my more open, less hostile and tolerant generation will be in the government and able to control all sorts of laws/policies.
Watch out, all you hateful folks, we will cancel your nursing home coverage!
