I was saddened to hear of L'Engle's death too-this was the first I'd heard of it. I read her books in fourth grade, and adored them then, and purchased them again in hardback as an adult to add to my collection. I re-read them often, and will do so again now in her honor and memory. I too have gifted my nieces and nephews with them, and find her writing as poignant and relevant today as I did forty years ago. The world has lost a great writer.
