Our former, intrepid writer Willy Volk (don’t worry, he’s still in the family) snapped this shot last month in the Bahamas. It’s a tiger shark, and it makes me nervous just looking at it. But to get into the water with it — to get close enough to take this shot — that’s another story. The closest I’ve ever been to a shark was the last time I was at the market, but it was cut up and wrapped in plastic. Even then, my heart was pounding in fear that somehow the shark would escape the wrapper and regenerate into what you see above. Excellent shot, Willy.
