Which Country Has the Most Couch Potatoes?
What's not obvious, however, is just how much TV Americans watch. It's unbelievable really. According to the study, people in the United States watch an average of 8 hours and 11 minutes per day. Crazy! But maybe not so crazy considering Americans have what, 18 televisions per household? They're so cheap, why not? I've got two in my bathroom, three in the living room, seven in the kitchen, and a few in the garage for good measure. Just kidding! I don't have a garage. But seriously ... the only country within reach is Turkey, which came in second with 5 hours of television per day.
| TV? What TV? | |
|---|---|
| An hour or less | |
| A few hours | |
| At least 5 hours -- maybe more? | |
| The full 8 hours 11 minutes, baby! |

jedicaron, author of post 51, needs to stop ranting and raving, and get an education. He cant spell ("aloud" instead of allowed, etc) and his post sounds like the ramblings of an uneducated redneck who believes everything he sees on TV. Jeepers, Jethro, get a brain~

For 20 years we lived in a town next to Newark, NJ and couln't go out and take a walk, too dangerous! Our street was the one which was used to drive the stolen cars and we couldn't even keep a tree in our front yard because they would knock them down each time we planted one. We couldn't even get package delivery at our house because the stuff would disappear right off the doorstep. The people across the street would leave their pitbull tied to their front door knob and I was afraid to even take my little dogs out for a walk or even let them play in the fenced-in BACK yard. Where are we supposed to walk in this country without the fear of being mugged or mowed down by a car? Not too many places that's for sure

I'm sorry to say, but if being overly obesse we're a threat to health, I'd be part of the bunch. Now, I'm just conscious of being 20lbs overweight, not cause of TV, but because I sit my behind in front of a computer and stay on the internet for a good 8.5hrs per day. That's worse than TV! The screen is closer and everything. I'm also a musician, so I either sit at work or at home. That doesn't help. Our country is over 70% obesse. That's a threat to anything we do in the future. Half of us couldn't even run for our lives if we had to.

O.K. maybe Americans are a little over weight. I am an ex-pat living in Switzerland and there are not many overweight people here. But, T.V. stinks here, why watch it? Cars are expensive so people ride their bikes & use puplic transportation. After being here 8 months I will tell you America is still the best place on earth to live & we should count our blessings.
