My wife and I were in Beijing a few years ago to attend the wedding of our American son to a Chinese girl. We elected to travel one place by bus. As we boarded, most of the seats were taken; my wife found one but I did not. Lo and behold, a pregnant lady stood up from her seat and beckoned me to take it. Now I am a senior citizen, but a pretty darn healthy one. I shook my head, no; she insisted. I declined; she persisted. I finally sat down, feeling mighty guilty. In China, they respect older people. As I keep aging, I'm thinking what a nice place to retire!
