10 Drinks Men Should Not Order
I'm always a little dubious when someone deigns to tell me what is and what is NOT allowed when it comes to male behavior. I occasionally read magazines like Details and when I come to the "Clothes a man should never wear" articles, I always find a few things from my own closet right there on the page. Keeping up with what's in style costs too damn much money. Besides, yesterday's faux pas is today's hip new thing. But I do have to agree somewhat with a few of the drinks listed in this fun slide show admonishing males over what should NOT be ordered and consumed among alcoholic beverages.
To wit: anything blended, unless you're on the beach. In other words, fruity drinks with little umbrellas or massive hunks of fruit tipping off of them: a no-no. I buy this. Sugary drinks like Mai Tais are just not very masculine. You're not having dessert for goodness sakes, you're getting hammered with friends! Beer is bitter and wine is sour and scotch packs a punch for a reason. You're supposed to suffer just a small amount for the sinful indulgence of drinking them.
If it's all sugary and yum-yum, you'll drink all the time. And you'll not only become a drunkard, you'll be a fat drunkard from all that sugar. Or so goes my own concocted explanation for why I don't order sugary drinks. Alas, you may find a Pina Colada nice and fulfilling. So go ahead and order one. And have a nice little plate of quiche while you're at it.

Its not just what a man drinks. Aren't we all guilty of defining who we are -or not, by whatever we buy and use? Some cars for example, are deemed 'masculine' by some.

21. When I see a dude wearing pink, I automatically think "douche-bag". And I'm right 100% of the time.

As an independent female I hate sterio-typing.BUT !!!I wish had only paid more attention to the "unbrella drinks" my then "boyfriend" now exhushand drank. I think drink preferences like clothes or food reflect
a persons nature. He was a weak, selfish person who had no spine. He let me handle the house problems, the care of the yard, pay bills, all the house chores while he goofed off. I'll take a guy who drinks scotch.

Honestly I never give it a second thought about what a man orders or a woman for that matter. I am usually just happy to have the company because it is usually someone that I want to spend time with.

Thats the problem with this country- there is no masculinity left- it was all left in your Daddy's shorts. Keep drinking your Susie drinks, wearing pink and strolling on the beach with your purple grape smugglers- me, I'll stick to being a man. Enjoy your whipped cream you sissys.

What a sad world we live in when a man is defined and judged by what he drinks. Why must society seek to belittle others because of such trivial matters? I am one man who prefers the fruity drinks, and I have no problem with that. I don't like the taste of beer or most hard alcohol. And when I want a drink, I want something that -- surprise, surprise -- tastes good. So I prefer a sweet drink. If somebody is going to think less of me, that's fine, because I that's the type of person whose opinion I don't put much stock into anyway. Live and let live, people! Guys, if you want a nice, cold strawberry daiquiri -- with a dollop of whipped cream! -- then by all means have one! Sheesh.

This is the most rediculous posting I have seen in a long time. I'll have my margerita any way I want. If the woman you are with (or after) cares that much about what you are drinking to determine your "manliness", its time to move on. Its not what you drink, its how much. Being a slobbering drunk will hurt your image a lot more.

Gentlemen prefer Whiskey, so do I.
But those TGIF fancy drinks are good once in a while, too. My husband (a very manly soldier) is known to indulge in a pina colada or two once in a while and there is nothing wrong with it.
As far as the "pink" subject goes, I prefer to be the one wearing that color.

How does drinking a certain drink make someone less masculine? It doesn't--but the people who say that it does look like complete @ssholes!
Christine Aug 8th 2007 10:03AM
"Ok, ONE question.......are women who drink beer, dykes?"
I love beer.
And men.
strangeone9999 Aug 8th 2007 10:05AM
Christine, do NOT use that word. Many people find it to be horribly offensive.
Christine Aug 8th 2007 10:06AM
Which word? "Men" or "Beer"?
As far as "Dykes" goes, I was quoting another poster.
Christine Aug 8th 2007 10:14AM
Well, I guess your lack of response means that you were offended by my beer and men loving ways.
If it was the "Dykes" thing, I know plenty of them who are not offended by it.
Luckily, I am not worried about your opinion.
Take this beer out of my husband's manly hand and drink it like a Dyke. Have a good day.
